Responsibilities

The Tendering Engineer – Fit Out is responsible for preparing and managing cost estimates, tenders, and proposals for commercial fit-out and finishing projects. The role involves detailed quantity take-offs, cost analysis, coordination with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting the commercial team to secure profitable projects while maintaining quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering & Estimation

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQs) for commercial fit-out and finishing works (partitions, ceilings, flooring, joinery, painting, MEP interfaces, etc.).
• Study tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify project requirements and risks.
• Prepare complete tender submissions, including pricing, technical clarifications, and commercial conditions.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

• Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for finishing materials and works.
• Evaluate and compare quotations to ensure best value, technical compliance, and accuracy.
• Negotiate prices and terms with vendors and subcontractors when required.

Cost Control & Value Engineering

• Propose value engineering options without compromising quality or design intent.
• Assist in preparing cost breakdowns, cash flow projections, and pricing strategies.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks during the tender stage.

Shop Drawings

• Take full responsibility for the preparation, coordination, review, and approval of all shop drawings related to fit-out and finishing works.
• Ensure all shop drawings comply with contract documents, applicable codes, approved materials, and project specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve comments and obtain approvals in a timely manner.
• Maintain proper documentation and revision control for all shop drawings.

Technical & Commercial Support

• Coordinate with design, engineering, and project teams to resolve technical queries.
• Prepare tender clarifications and respond to client or consultant inquiries.
• Support post-tender negotiations and handover to the project execution team upon award.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain an organized tender database and cost records for future reference.
• Prepare tender summaries, comparison sheets, and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and contract conditions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–8 years of experience in tendering/estimation for commercial fit-out and finishing projects.
• Strong knowledge of finishing materials, methods, and market rates.
