Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Software Engineering Manager based in Cairo/Giza, Egypt, with the opportunity for some remote work. The Software Engineering Manager will lead and mentor a team of software engineers, oversee software design and development, and ensure the successful delivery of projects. The role involves managing distributed systems, ensuring technical excellence, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.

Daily focus

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across Node.js/TypeScript backend and React.js/TypeScript frontend, ensuring fast, reliable, fintech-grade releases.
• Own sprint execution through strong Agile rituals including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and delivery accountability.
• Drive architecture evolution across monolithic core systems and modular expansion, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and clean boundaries.
• Set high standards for API-first development, including RESTful design, versioning, security, and seamless internal/external integrations.
• Own deep technical documentation for APIs, services, and workflows to ensure clarity, onboarding speed, and long-term system sustainability.
• Lead engineering excellence through disciplined code reviews, testing practices, automation, and continuous reduction of tech debt.
• Partner closely with DevOps teams to strengthen CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, and production readiness.
• Own engineering workflows across Git, branching strategies, pull requests, Bitbucket repositories, and Bitbucket Pipelines.
• Maintain high reliability standards by driving observability, incident response readiness, and stable performance across critical fintech systems.
• Collaborate with Customer Support and Operations teams to close feedback loops, resolve production issues, and improve customer experience.
• Manage, mentor, and coach engineers through 1:1s, feedback cycles, growth plans, and high-performance team culture.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and team scaling while reinforcing Kiwe’s Builder culture of ownership, speed, and execution.

Qualifications

• 9-14 years of experience in Software Development and Software Design practices
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js + TypeScript backend development
• Experience delivering scalable production APIs
• Solid understanding of frontend systems using React + TypeScript
• Proven ability to lead sprint execution, delivery planning, and team velocity
• Strong knowledge of Git workflows, PR discipline, and CI/CD practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
