Job Summary

The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, maintaining payroll records, and addressing employee payroll-related queries. The role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and coordination with HR and Finance teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including salaries, deductions, bonuses, and overtime
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity, and labor laws
  • Calculate and process final settlements, leave encashment, and arrears
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports and returns within timelines
  • Handle payroll audits and respond to internal and external audit queries
  • Coordinate with HR for employee data changes (joining, exits, promotions, increments)
  • Address employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll data and employee information
  • Support year-end activities including Form 16, tax declarations, and reconciliations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or HR
  • Proven experience in payroll processing
  • Sound knowledge of payroll laws and statutory compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with payroll systems (SAP, ADP, Zoho Payroll, or similar)
  • Knowledge of income tax calculations and labor law compliance
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
