The Lead BIM Electrical is responsible for managing, coordinating, and delivering all BIM-related electrical works across projects. The role ensures accurate electrical modeling, clash-free coordination, compliance with project standards, and effective collaboration between design, construction, and BIM teams. The Lead BIM Electrical reports directly to the BIM Manager / Engineering Manager and supports project delivery from design through construction stages.
Key Responsibilities
BIM Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and manage the electrical BIM team across one or multiple projects.
- Coordinate electrical BIM models with mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines.
- Ensure clash detection, resolution, and coordination are completed prior to construction.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and provide technical input.
Modeling & Technical Oversight
- Develop and review detailed electrical BIM models including power, lighting, low current, and earthing systems.
- Ensure models comply with project BIM standards, LOD requirements, and client specifications.
- Review shop drawings, combined drawings, and as-built models derived from BIM.
Quality Control & Standards
- Enforce BIM execution plans (BEP) and modeling standards.
- Review models for accuracy, constructability, and coordination compliance.
- Ensure proper naming conventions, worksets, parameters, and documentation standards.
Design & Construction Support
- Support design development and value engineering from a BIM perspective.
- Coordinate with site teams to resolve constructability and installation issues.
- Update models based on RFIs, site changes, and approved modifications.
Clash Detection & Reporting
- Perform and manage clash detection using Navisworks or similar tools.
- Analyze clashes, assign responsibilities, and track closure status.
- Prepare clash reports and coordination summaries for management.
Team Development & Mentorship
- Guide, mentor, and technically support BIM Electrical Engineers and Modelers.
- Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and review team outputs.
- Support training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting & Communication
- Report progress, risks, and coordination issues to the BIM Manager / Project Manager.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients during BIM reviews and approvals.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and milestone delivery from a BIM perspective.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in electrical BIM for construction or MEP projects.
- Proven experience in a Lead or Senior BIM role.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Revit (Electrical).
- Strong experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems: power, lighting, low current, and ELV systems.
- Strong knowledge of BIM workflows, LODs, BEP, and ISO 19650 principles (preferred).
Software Skills
- Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
- BIM collaboration platforms (ACC, BIM 360 or similar) are a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
